Jackie Zhou
Jackie is a PhD Candidate at the University of Sydney researching the role of type 2 diabetes-related non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD; aka metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease [MASLD]) in the pathogenesis of diabetic cardiomyopathy. He aims to establish strategic lifestyle interventions that significantly improve cellular energetics and health in the diabetic setting. Under the supervision of Associate Professor Melanie White, Professor John O’Sullivan, and Professor Stephen Twigg, Jackie will be using a pre-clinical model of type two diabetes, pre-clinical imaging, histology, computational pathology with machine learning, multi-omics, bioinformatics, and other molecular biology approaches to explore the impacts of different metabolic challenges on hepatic metabolites, lipids, proteins, and post-translational modifications.
